We understand that for some young people the overriding priority may be for an immediate place of safety. Horizons can offer this temporary, flexible care to ensure the young person experiences as little disruption to their life as possible.
At Horizons we are fully aware that all referrals can be traumatic for both, the new referral and the existing residents. With careful planning the staff team will ensure that this process be carried out in such a way that it minimises impact on any of the young people within our care.
Our staff team have a vast knowledge and experience base of proactively responding to young people when in emergency / crisis situations. We are clear of the enhanced duty of care placed upon us as in line with the Children (Scotland) Act (1995), the SSSC Code of Practice for employers and employees, the National Care Standards and Child Protection. We have robust policies and procedures in place in respect to Care and Control and Physical Intervention.
Our staff has the training, experience and ability to recognise when baseline behaviour changes and the often complex behaviours start being presented. Emergency placement may impact behaviours for the young people within our care, our aim and objective is to provide early positive intervention strategies to stop the behaviours escalating. We have the capability to provide specialist input and recommendations for care planning to best support the young person in their time of crisis.
